MIDWIFERY PRENTAL CARE

FROM CONCEPTION to POSTPARTUM

From the moment you find out you’re pregnant to the weeks after your baby arrives, we’re here. Our prenatal care is thorough, unhurried, and deeply personal, designed to help you feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.

First Trimester (Weeks 4–12)
We’ll start by getting to know you, your health history, your hopes, and what matters most to you. Early lab work and your care plan come together here, with visits once a month.

Second Trimester (Weeks 13–27)
Monthly visits continue with a focus on fetal growth, nutrition, and your overall wellness. We’ll also start talking through your birth preferences and answering any questions that come up along the way.

Third Trimester (Weeks 28–36)
Visits move to every two weeks as we begin preparing for birth. We’ll cover fetal positioning, refine your birth plan, and make sure you’re feeling informed and ready.

36 Weeks to Birth
Weekly visits begin. We’ll confirm baby’s position, walk through what to expect in labor, and visit your home to make sure your birth space feels just right.

Labor & Birth
Your midwife arrives when active labor begins and stays through birth and those first few hours after, monitoring you and baby, supporting your first latch, and making sure everyone is well before we go.

Postpartum
We’ll visit at 24–48 hours, one week, three weeks, and six weeks postpartum, supporting your recovery, checking on baby, and making sure you feel cared for as you settle into life with your new little one.

HOME BIRTH SUPPORT

IN YOUR HOME, FOR A SAFE BIRTH

Our home birth services are designed to support you from early labor all the way through those first tender hours with your baby. When the time comes, your midwife comes to you, fully prepared to support a safe and comfortable birth in your own space. You’ll have the freedom to labor however feels right, whether that’s on land, in water, or a combination of both. We monitor you and baby closely throughout, step in when needed, and stay until everyone is settled and well. It’s personal, it’s intentional, and it’s completely centered around you.

POSTPARTUM HEALING

AFTER BIRTH CARE

The weeks after birth are truly sacred, and they deserve just as much care and attention as the months leading up to it. Our postpartum support is built around making sure you feel physically well, emotionally supported, and confident as you step into this new season. We check in on you and baby, answer your questions, support your recovery, and make sure you feel heard and supported during those delicate early weeks.

24–48 Hours After Birth
Our first postpartum visit happens right away. We’ll check on your recovery, assess baby’s weight and overall wellness, support your first few days of breastfeeding, and make sure you’re feeling as good as possible before we head out.

One Week
We come back to check in on how things are settling. We’ll review baby’s weight gain, address any infant feeding/breastfeeding questions, and see how you’re doing physically and emotionally.

Three Weeks
Another check in to make sure baby is thriving and you’re feeling supported. This is a great time to bring up anything that’s come up or felt uncertain in those first few weeks.

Six Weeks
Our final postpartum visit covers a full maternal wellness check, a review of your overall recovery, and a chance to reflect on your birth experience and talk through any next steps for your care.

Extended Postpartum Care
Within the first two weeks postpartum, we offer a complementary visit from one of our postpartum doulas. This is our way of taking extra care of our families beyond the birth and typical postpartum care schedule. We want to make sure our families are not just surviving, but thriving!

Beyond Six Weeks
Your wellbeing doesn’t stop here. We have trusted community partners who specialize in pelvic floor therapy, lactation support, counseling, belly binding, and more, so you always have somewhere to turn as you continue to heal and grow into this new season of life.

FAQs

Home birth is a safe and beautiful option for many families, and we’re always happy to help you figure out if it’s the right fit for you. Generally, good candidates are those experiencing a low-risk pregnancy, are in good overall health, and are committed to consistent prenatal care. Certain factors such as pregnancy complications or specific pre-existing conditions may shift the conversation toward a different care setting. Every situation is unique though, and the best place to start is simply reaching out so we can talk through your options together.

Although we do not work directly with insurance companies, we do provide all of our families that request an itemized, super bill to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. We also offer flexible payment plans, and accept HSA’s/FSA’s, and select health share plans.

Simply put, we think every birthing person deserves a doula. While your midwife is there to support your clinical care and the safety of your birth, a doula’s role is a little different. They are there solely for you, your comfort, your emotional support, and your advocacy throughout labor. And for partners, a doula is an incredible resource too. They help guide your support person in how to show up for you in the most meaningful way, so no one feels lost or unsure in the moment. Having a doula means you always have someone by your side whose only job is to make sure you feel supported, heard, and cared for every step of the way. Research consistently shows that continuous labor support leads to better birth outcomes, shorter labors, and a more positive overall experience. If you’re on the fence, we’d love to help connect you with someone who feels like the right fit.

This is one of the most common questions we hear, and it’s a really important one. Your safety and your baby’s safety is always our first priority, and we come to every birth fully prepared. Our midwives are trained in neonatal resuscitation, hemorrhage management, and a range of obstetric emergencies. We carry the necessary medications and equipment to respond quickly and calmly should anything unexpected arise. We also carefully assess your health throughout pregnancy so that potential complications are identified and addressed well before your birth day. In the rare case that a transfer to the hospital is needed, we have established relationships with local hospitals and will accompany you, advocate for you, and make sure the transition feels as supported as possible. We don’t take the responsibility of your care lightly, and we want you to feel confident knowing that we are both prepared and experienced in handling whatever may come.

Yes, and we genuinely mean that. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools you can bring into your birth experience. Understanding what your body is doing, what to expect during labor, and how to work with your contractions rather than against them can make a world of difference in how you feel on your birth day. While we cover a lot of ground together throughout your prenatal care, a dedicated childbirth class gives you and your support person the time and space to really absorb and prepare. We have some great options we love to recommend, so don’t hesitate to ask us at your next visit.

Yes to both. We are strong supporters of VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and believe that with the right preparation, support, and prenatal care, many families can achieve a safe and empowering VBAC at home. We take the time to thoroughly review your history, discuss your options honestly, and make sure you feel fully informed and confident going into your birth. Water birth is also something we love supporting. Laboring and birthing in warm water can be deeply soothing and is a beautiful option for many families. We’ll talk through whether water birth feels like a good fit for you and help you prepare for that experience as part of your care. If either of these is something you’re hoping for, we’d love to talk about it.
